Individuals with Major Depressive Disorder Report High Scores of Insecure-Avoidant and Insecure-Anxious Attachment Styles, Dissociative Identity Symptoms, and Adult Traumatic Events

Objective: Individuals with major depressive disorder (MDD) report more issues in social interaction compared to the general population. Moreover, dimensions of dissociation are considered dysfunctional strategies cope adverse life events. In this regard, current symptoms MDD could be associated traumatic events that occurred childhood and adult life. Given background, aim present study was explore associations between attachment styles as a proxy quality interaction, dissociation, among individuals MDD. Method: A total 300 (mean age: 31.31 years; 58.7% female) took part study. They completed series questionnaires on sociodemographic information, styles, Results: Prevalence rates for were follows: anxious/ambivalent style—71.7%; avoidant/dependent style—13%; secure/close style—15.3%. Compared population, participants reported higher prevalence insecure styles. Current but not An anxious style scores dissociation.
